Carousel Brainstorming

 

Carousel Brainstorming is a literacy based strategy for introducing new information to be learned or prior knowledge to be reviewed through movement, conversation, and reflection. Whether activating background knowledge or checking understanding after studying a topic, a carousel brainstorm or rotating review allows students to pull out and think about what they know about subtopics within a larger topic. This literacy based strategy is perfect for teaching social studies because it encourages critical thinking and teamwork with peers.
