Headline It

This literacy strategy forces students to think critically on what is truly important in a passage and needs to be highlighted at the very beginning. Headline It allows for students to access their creativity and come up with catchy slogans for reading passages that not only properly summarize the information but oftentimes convey a particular emotion that the student would want another reader to take away. This literacy based strategy is perfect for social studies classrooms because it ties in current events, creativity, and subject material while still demanding higher levels of thinking in students.

*Determine Importance
